Steelers possible televised games in 2020

Week 13 vs. Washington Dec. 6th, 1 p.m. ET

FOX has only three games in this time slot, and Detroit at Chicago and New Orleans at Atlanta are the games up against this one.

Washington figures to be on the upswing (they can’t be much worse than they’ve been) with Chase Young, as do the Steelers with Ben Roethlisberger. Drew Brees is always a fun watch, but don’t discount this being the featured game.

Week 4 @ Tennessee Oct. 4th, 1 p.m. ET

The Titans went to the AFC Championship Game last season but still feel like one of the most anonymous franchises in the NFL. Still, their early schedule isn’t terribly difficult, so if both teams come in with winning records it could push the game into additional markets.

But at the same time, the Chargers travel to Tampa Bay, and one gets the feeling CBS might want to showcase Tom Brady.

Baltimore at Washington also has an appeal, especially if the Redskins can take advantage of a relatively light schedule in the first three weeks of the season.

The rest of the schedule, Indianapolis at Chicago and Jacksonville at Cincinnati, don’t figure to be terribly compelling outside of their own markets.

Week 2 vs. Denver Sept.. 20th, 1 p.m. ET

Don’t ask us how, but somehow, someway, CBS has gotten their hands on the New York Giants at Chicago Bears game played in this time slot.

While the Steelers are a glamour franchise and it’s not as if the Denver Broncos don’t have a large following (4.1 million Facebook likes), the largest and third-largest markets play each other at Soldier Field.

Sure, on week two perception is still based on last year, and in 2019 Pittsburgh and Denver combined for 15 victories while Chicago and the Giants won just 12 games between them.

But CBS didn’t acquire this game out-of-conference not to make it their game of the week.
