Pittsburgh has a lot of young players who have yet to prove their worth to the team. Here are three Steelers who could end up surprising us all in 2020.

The Steelers have always had a familiar philosophy of doing business. Kevin Colbert and the Rooney’s have always lived by the motto of retaining their own players and keeping their stars around as long as possible – even at the cost of not spending in free agency.

For the most part, this strategy has severed them well. The Steelers have been a competitive team year in and year out, and they have yet to post a losing record under the direction of Mike Tomlin. In fact, you would need to go all the back to 2003 (17 years ago) to find the last time Pittsburgh finished with more losses than wins in a sesaon.

Pittsburgh is one of the NFL’s most storied franchises for a reason, and it is largely due to their winning mentality and team-building philosophy. However, times have changed a bit in the NFL. More and more teams are getting use out of young players early in their careers while they are still at the beginning of their rookie contracts, and it has proved to be beneficial to the team.

The Steelers are one of those teams. Last season, a 21-year-old linebacker, Devin Bush, started 15 games for Pittsburgh, while Minkah Fitzpatrick was a first-team All-Pro player and Defensive Player of the Year candidate by age 23.

There is still a group of young players on the Steelers roster that could have a bigger impact in 2020 than you might think. Here are three players who could surprise us all this year:
