OLB Jarvis Jones

This is probably not a name you want to hear. Jarvis Jones may be one of the biggest first-round busts in recent memory. He was a mid-first round pick that never turned into a good pass rusher.

My memory of Jarvis Jones was always him getting forced outside the arc because he didn’t have the bend to get after the quarterback in the NFL.

Jones retired after his first contract was done and it probably had to do with spinal stenosis. Jones was a bust and probably could have stayed in the NFL if he didn’t have scare over his spinal stenosis.

When Jones realized he wasn’t going to have a big NFL career, it seemed better to take it easy and find something else to do. However, if he was getting the big contracts that first-round pass rushers can get in their second-contract, I bet he would still be playing.

Jones probably could play now. I had Tuzar Skipper on my 53 man roster prediction and so that tells me that Jarvis Jones could probably make that role for the veteran minimum. I think the veteran minimum originally wasn’t enough for Jones to keep playing.

Jarvis Jones is still only 30 and that is young enough for a 3-4 outside linebacker to still be in their NFL career.
