The Steelers hope that any rookie in the 2020 draft can turn in a season to remember

So when you started reading this article, you may have been thinking this: “This is nice, but what does it have to do with the 2020 Steelers”?  Well, that’s a valid question.  While there have been several Steelers players whose rookie seasons were nothing short of legendary, there have also been several players whose rookie seasons were less than stellar.

I would offer that the Steelers are hoping that any of the players whom we selected in the 2020 draft will have rookie seasons that culminate in a trip to the Pro Bowl or being named All-Pro or a trip the playoffs or a trip to the Super Bowl or, hopefully, a parade following a victory in the Super Bowl.

If even one rookie distinguishes himself, it would be a boon for the entire team.  It would mean that the Steelers invested our draft capital in players who will become positive contributors to our success.  After all, football is the ultimate team sport.  One player can not carry a team to victory in the NFL of today.

Rookies play more frequently now than they ever did, for various reasons.  Let’s hope the Steelers rookie class of 2020 will go down in Steelers lore as one of the best.  If they do not contribute at all, it could be a long season.
