Safety

The current Steelers starters at safety are unequivocally Minkah Fitzpatrick and Terrell Edmunds. That tandem is something fans can rely on while healthy.

Marcus Allen was a 5th round pick out of fan-favorite Penn State, but he has only been activate for three games in two years. Unfortunately, he has been fighting his way off the practice squad since his arrival.

Jordan Dangerfield has flashed potential since joining the Steelers in 2016. According to Pro Football Reference, he had 6 tackles, majority on special teams, and one forced fumble in 2019. Even with his great efforts on special teams, seeing significant snaps would not be ideal for this defense.

Pittsburgh’s front office clearly felt depth needed to be addressed when they drafted Antoine Brooks Jr. in the 6th round. It is not clear how his downhill skillset will be utilized outside of special teams right now.
