Offensive Tackle

Alejandro Villanueva is coming off a rough year and Matt Fieler is serviceable but not exactly Pro Bowl-caliber. These two players are locked in as the starters right now (assuming the Steelers don’t kick Feiler inside to left guard), but if one of them goes down there is no proven player to step in.

Chukwuma Okorafor looks like an NFL tackle when you get your first look at him but he is still a work in progress. He gets overwhelmed and mixed up against speed rushers. Meanwhile, Zach Banner is a fan favorite but has only shown us to be an effective run blocker in unbalanced packages.

Both of these guys are going to have step up in pass protection if called upon to step in for an injured teammate especially his called on to play left tackle.

It will be interesting to see if the Steelers look for outside help before training camp. If not, it could be very worrisome if any of Pittsburgh’s starters at these positions go down in 2020.
