6 Steelers who are poised to break out in 2020 season
By Andrew Falce
Minkah Fitzpatrick
Like Edmunds, Fitzpatrick is also entering his third year, although he is coming off a far better season than Edmunds. He logged 5 interceptions and became one of the most feared players in the Steelers secondary. Going into next year, it will be hard for him to top his 2019 tape, but the team has a full offseason to scheme him into ideal scenarios.
Fitzpatrick played mostly at FS last year, and that should be his primary position this year as playing deep is his strong suit. That said, with his talent he can play at SS in a pinch if Edmunds moves down to the box. Again, this creative scheming will be a big factor in how big of a season Edmunds has.
That said, Fitzpatrick is primed for his best season even if he plays deep most of the time. He is simply that talented. Along with the rest of the secondary, the Steelers have one of the better ball-hawking groups in the league. While his 2020 isn’t likely to be too far ahead of his 2019 season, Expect some more tackles (maybe in the 70-80 range) and perhaps even another interception or two.
