LB Ulysees Gilbert

I feel bad for the position that Ulysees Gilbert has been put in, but at the same time, he will quickly get the chance to showcase his abilities to the world. The Steelers cut Mark Barron this offseason, as he was set to make $8.1 million in 2020, and they did nothing to replace him in the NFL Draft or free agency.

Gilbert is a player who showed a lot of promise in his rookie preseason last year, but injuries held him to playing just 7 total games, and 35 percent of special teams snaps. Despite his dominant preseason showing, Gilbert never managed to log a snap on defense as a rookie, but that will soon change.

With Barron now gone and Vince Williams seeing his snaps decrease each year, Ulysees Gilbert will be counted on to be a subpackage linebacker for the Steelers this year. If he proves incapable of handling this role, Pittsburgh could be looking for another linebacker as early as next offseason.
