Diontae Johnson
The first over-hyped player we should talk about is Diontae Johnson. There were times when Juju Smith-Schuster was injured in 2019 that Diontae Johnson became the Steelers #1 receiver. He flashed at times but also hit the rookie wall other times.
The Steelers really liked him in the 2019 draft calling him a first-round value despite being picked in the third round. What the Steelers really like is his potential.
There is something that concerns me about Diontae Johnson and that is his ball security. He seemed to have this problem at Toledo and he had this problem in his rookie year.
Some are calling Johnson the next great Steelers receiver? Tommy Jaggi asked, “Could Steelers Diontae Johnson be the best WR from the 2019 class?” This article should be an indication of how much hype Diontae Johnson is getting.
To think he could be a better receiver than receivers like Deebo Samuel, Hollywood Brown, Terry McLaurin and AJ Brown is a stretch for me. He still has to prove himself and has to get on the same page with Ben Roethlisberger.
