Conclusion

One thing that I want to come away from this look at five overhyped players is the potential that these guys can have. The hype comes from what they can be as opposed to what they are.

Diontae Johnson could flourish in his second year in the league especially with Ben Roethlisberger as his QB. He may have to step up as the #2 receiver and be on the field all the time in 2020. Also if JuJu goes down, then Johnson will be expected to be Ben’s #1 receiving target.

Joe Haden may not be in his prime anymore, but an injury to him at this point would really hurt. Haden may be overpaid, but he is an integral part of this football team.

JuJu Smith-Schuster is capable of being a star and is relatively young. He is in a contract year; so, that might spur him to play his best. He has big shoes to fill being the #1 receiver now that Antonio Bown has gone off the deep end.

Devin Bush could flourish in his expanded role and his second year in the league. He has the athleticism and was picked high for a reason. It would really keep that defense elite if he steps into stardom.

Mason Rudolph also has the toughness to bounce back and be the quarterback to take over for Ben Roethlisberger. It feels like a stretch now but some of the problems Rudolph had in 2019 could be due to his concussion and he could bounce back.

Next. 3 reasons for optimism heading into the Steelers 2020 season. dark

Overall, things are looking up for the Steelers. They had a very good defense led by Minkah Fitzpatrick, TJ Watt, and Cameron Heyward in 2019 and now they could get Ben Roethlisberger back on offense. Things are looking up.
