1st round (pick 28): QB Lamar Jackson

Original pick: S Terrell Edmunds

Would there ever be an easier re-draft pick in the history of hypothetical re-draft scenarios? The Steelers would have a chance to take back the pick they made with, at best, an average NFL safety, and throw him back into the player pool for the 2019 NFL MVP.

I loved Lamar Jackson at the time, and I would have been ecstatic had Pittsburgh been willing to take a quarterback when Ben Roethlisberger was 36 years old. Jackson was my 10th overall player and was an incredibly rare breed of athlete at the NFL’s most important position.

Though the Steelers would have had to build their offense a bit differently, that’s what good offensive coordinators do for franchise quarterbacks. Instead of being part of one of the NFL’s most winning franchise, Jackson will be terrorizing Pittsburgh for years to come. If there is one pick I could redo on the entire Steelers team, it’s replacing Terrell Edmunds with Lamar Jackson.
