The Steelers have a number of offensive positional battles to tune into this training camp. Here are five early battles on offense.

NFL training camps are certainly going to be different this year. Fans can no longer be in attendance and roster sizes were cut from 90 to 80 players to start camp. For the Steelers, players and fans alike will not have the privilege of enjoying practices at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe.

However, something that isn’t going away anytime soon is training camp positional battles. While some players are firmly rooted into their starting roles, there will be others who will either be pushing for more playing time or battling it out for a roster spot in 2020. Here are five offensive training camp battles to keep an eye on:

QB3: Devlin Hodges vs. Paxton Lynch

Ben Roethlisberger will resume his role as a starter this season, and the Steelers have made it clear that they feel “comfortable” with Mason Rudolph as their number two passer heading into the 2020 season.

Typically, Pittsburgh is a team that likes to roster three quarterbacks. If that proves to be the case again in 2020, it could come down to a battle between Devlin Hodges and Paxton Lynch. Hodges had his ups and downs for the Steelers last season as he lead them to a 3-3 record. However, he really struggled down the stretch as Pittsburgh lost three straight games to close the season.

Meanwhile, Lynch is a former first-round pick with a lot of physical tools, but he didn’t pan out in Denver. These two quarterbacks will be fighting for a roster spot, and knowing Roethlisberger’s injury history, there’s a chance one of them could see the field in 2020 if things go south.
