Joey Porter

Miami Dolphins and Arizona Cardinals

Joey Porter was and still is one of the best outside linebackers to ever put on the Steelers helmet for the franchise. He carried records for the Steelers defense for a while and won a Super Bowl with then head coach, Bill Cowher. Porter was a favorite of the fans, but after money talks, he found his way to Miami. The grass seemed greener in Miami for Porter, at least individually, as he still racked up great production for the Dolphins defense.

He put up some nice numbers while playing down south and had his best statistical season ever with 17.5 sacks in a season. Porter played for Miami across three seasons and was able to total six forced fumbles, two interceptions, 32 sacks, and 39 tackles for loss. Porter would continue his career elsewhere as the aging veteran would move onto Arizona. He would finish his storied career as a member of the Cardinals – only added 6 sacks over his final two seasons.

No matter if it was him making big plays on defense or guaranteeing wins during the playoffs, Porter was and is a beloved Steelers player. He was able to be a thorn in the side of opposing offenses no matter if he was playing for the Steelers or Miami. One thing is for sure, Porter was and always will be a Steeler no matter if he wore different colors at the end of his career or not.
