Pittsburgh could be poised for a big season in 2020. Here are five bold predictions for Steelers training camp this year.

Not a lot went right for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2019. Despite a defense that caught fire mid-season, a Mason Rudolph and Devlin Hodges-led offense eventually resulted in the demise of the team.

This year, there seems to be far more for Steelers fans to look forward to. Obviously Ben Roethlisberger and Stephon Tuitt are returning from season-ending injuries that ended both of their campaigns far too early last year. But there are plenty of other reasons to be excited for 2020 as well.

Heading into 2019, Steelers fans probably didn’t realize just how good T.J. Watt was going to be for this team, and nobody could have predicted Pittsburgh trading for Minkah Fitzpatrick – a safety that would soon become a first-team All-Pro player by the age of 23. These two breakout stars give us plenty of reason to believe that Pittsburgh’s defense in 2019 was not just a fluke.

As far as the offense goes, the return of Roethlisberger will improve this unit by leaps and bounds. But he’s not the only player that will help. Diontae Johnson and James Washington both outperformed expectations in 2019 and could be better than fans and NFL analysts initially anticipated. In addition, acquiring Eric Ebron and Chase Claypool this offseason makes Pittsburgh’s pass-catchers deeper than they’ve been in years.

With NFL training camps underway, players will have a chance to leapfrog each other on the roster and make their presence felt in 2020. Here are five bold predictions for Steelers training camp this year:
