Pittsburgh Steelers dream roster of Super Bowl era: Quarterbacks

Ben Roethlisberger
Years with Steelers: 2004-Present
While there is a debate as to which Steeler QB should start, it seems clearer to me that Ben Roethlisberger is the clear-cut best option to start for this dream roster. Roethlisberger may not have the Super Bowl rings that the other option does, but he makes fewer mistakes and can move the ball more efficiently than any other option for the Steelers.
What separates Roethlisberger from any other option is his ability to be clutch in big moments. No moment better encompasses that than the Super Bowl XLIII pass to Santonio Holmes in the back of the end zone. That doesn’t even account for the countless other moments of “Back-yard Ben”, when just as the play seems lost, Roethlisberger somehow makes the big play work. Having this type of QB lead your team seems like the best move.
Along with his clutch nature, Roethlisberger’s big-play ability also aids in him being chosen as the Steelers dream roster’s starting QB. Roethlisberger has one of the prettiest deep balls you can watch. When he launches a rocket deep, it always seems to have a chance to connect with his WR no matter the circumstance. Does Roethlisberger make mistakes? Sure, but overall, his strong traits and skills make him the easy choice to lead this squad.
