Pittsburgh Steelers dream roster of Super Bowl era: Quarterbacks
By Andrew Falce
Terry Bradshaw
Years with Steelers: 1970-1983
The backup QB was much harder to decide upon. While the obvious choice of second-best QB is Terry Bradshaw, would his personality and pride allow him to sit as the backup? While that potential for controversy here is real, Bradshaw’s ability as a gunslinger outweighs any issue that could develop in the locker room.
Watching the old Bradshaw film is like watching a Bob Ross painting. You never really expect it to turn out well, but by the end, a beautiful picture has been created. A lot of Bradshaw’s technique is sloppy, and at times he looked like a mess in the pocket, but somehow it just worked for him. He was known as the blonde bomber for a reason, and his arm strength got him out of a lot of bad situations.
If Roethlisberger were to ever go down injured, Bradshaw could step in and the offense wouldn’t miss a beat. His style is similar to Roethlisberger in that he thrives off throwing the ball deep, and while his numerous mistakes could be costly, many of his plays looked like a work of art. Bradshaw may bring some risk as a locker room headache since he isn’t the starter, but the talent he would bring behind Roethlisberger is well worth it.
