5. WR Diontae Johnson

I’m as big of a Diontae Johnson fan as most anyone, but there comes a point where an extremely promising, young player can receive too much praise. Because of his terrific rookie season in 2019, fans are already starting to talk him up as the next Antonio Brown. Let’s take a step back for a second.

Yes, Johnson impressed as a rookie and he led all NFL receivers in yards of separation per target last year, according to Next Gen Stats. However, comparing him to some of the league’s best receivers and already labeling him a future ‘number one’ is a bit premature.

Johnson still had his flaws as a rookie. He caught just 16.7 percent of his contested targets last season and his average target distance was just 9.1 yards down the field, according to Playerprofiler.com. Perhaps Johnson could end up being a true number one receiver, but let’s give him more time before we start praising him too much.
