The Steelers offensive line may become well represented in the Hall of Fame in the coming years

So when I stated earlier in the conversation that the Steelers offensive line has been under-represented and under-appreciated, I meant it.  I firmly believe that David DeCastro and Maurkice Pouncey have a legitimate shot at being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame when each of them decides to call it quits.

Again, the discussion was not focused on the Hall of Fame worthiness of the offensive linemen we discussed, but how can we ignore the fact that we have two current ‘O’-linemen who are on pace to earn several Pro Bowl as well as All-Pro honors and that we have one former ‘O’-lineman who did earn several trips to the Pro Bowl and was named All-Pro several times?

We know that Alan Faneca has been close to being inducted for the past few years, but falling short again this year.  Like DeCastro and Pouncey, Faneca will get in at some point, in my opinion. Being a Hall of Fame player is not a prerequisite for being considered the greatest at any position, but I think we have laid out a compelling argument that the five greatest offensive linemen in Steelers history should all be Hall of Famers.

Mike Webster and Dermontti Dawson have already achieved that honor, so let’s see if DeCastro, Pouncey, and Faneca will follow in their footsteps.  If they do, we would have three centers and two guards from the modern era representing us in the Hall of Fame.

With every list, subjectivity certainly factors into the equation; however, I tried to be as objective as possible in my assessment of who should be included in this particular list.  Would you have put the exact same players on the list or would you have chosen five completely different players? I guess the inherent nature of any ‘greatest’ list is that it is open for debate.  This list is no different.
