The veteran receiver reportedly has a workout with a Pittsburgh Steelers rival.

Multiple times during the recent past, the Pittsburgh Steelers have been mentioned as a possible landing spot for free-agent wide receiver Dez Bryant.

Bryant last appeared in an NFL game back in the 2017 season as a member of the Dallas Cowboys. After a failed attempt to earn a role with the New Orleans Saints in 2018, the veteran receiver has been waiting around for his next opportunity.

On Monday, it was revealed that Bryant could potentially land a job in the AFC North. According to NFL Network’s Jane Slater and Tom Pelissero, the former Cowboys pass-catcher is scheduled to meet and workout with the Baltimore Ravens this week.

Will the Pittsburgh Steelers be going up against Dez Bryant in 2020?

Bryant will turn 32-years-old in November, but that doesn’t seem to make a difference for the Ravens. Baltimore is apparently looking to add some more experience to their wide receiver room and they believe that Bryant has the potential to benefit their efforts to reach the Super Bowl this season.

If he signs with the Ravens, the veteran receiver will have to go up against Pittsburgh twice in 2020. Bryant has only faced the Steelers twice in his NFL career, but he did perform fairly well in both matchups. During his last meeting with Pittsburgh, he finished with six catches for 116 yards and one touchdown.

At 6-foot-2 and 220 pounds, Bryant is a tough matchup for most opposing cornerbacks to go up against. It would be interesting to see who the Steelers would use to cover him since both of their starting corners (Joe Haden and Steven Nelson) are under 6-feet tall.

After Pittsburgh’s passing attack struggled last year, some thought Bryant could possibly be someone they might have been interested in signing this offseason. The former Dallas receiver even tweeted back in January that he would love to suit up in the, “black and gold.”

Nothing ever came of it and the Steelers decided to invest this year’s second-round draft pick in former Notre Dame wide receiver, Chase Claypool. Some Pittsburgh fans probably wanted to see Bryant end up with their favorite team, but the Steelers will likely be much better off with the addition of Claypool.
