Jaylen Samuels

Samuels has shown the ability to be a really talented running back in the NFL during his career with the Steelers. The biggest issue for Samuels is the position room that he is in has too many talented players surrounding him.

Samuels is more of a gadget player so that makes him unique and adds some positives to his game. With Benny Snell and Anthony McFarland, Samuels seems to be the odd man out with James Conner being the undisputed starter for that group. With a talented running back group, Samuels will have to show the coaches that he can excel in every aspect besides just catching the football.

Another unique thing that Samuels does compare to anyone else on the roster is his running style. He can weave through traffic with a side running motion that can help him at times, while it can hinder his abilities as well. This awkward running style helped him steamroll the New England Patriots defense a few years ago, which saw the Steelers win that game.

During his NFL career, Samuels has totaled 431 rushing yards, one rushing touchdown, 504 receiving yards, and four receiving touchdowns. Samuel’s versatility will definitely help his case for keeping him on the roster but will the Steelers really want to keep five running backs on the roster? We shall see come cut-down day.
