Ben Roethlisberger

2014 Notable Stats: 4952 yards, 32 TDs, 9 INTs

Ben Roethlisberger isn’t new to best-of lists for the Steelers, as the QB has arguably become the best QB the Steelers have ever had. Even better, he has aged well as a player, taking fewer risks which have led to fewer turnovers. During his age 32 seasons (in 2014), Roethlisberger had arguably his best season as a pro, throwing for almost 5000 yards and 32 TDs to only 9 INTs. On top of this, he led the Steelers to an 11-5 record that season.

While this was arguably Roethlisberger’s best season, the reason he is so low on this list is the fact he is a QB. This is a position that is seeing success well into their 40’s, and considering Roethlisberger is now gearing up for his age 38 season, his numbers are more reasonable for his age. That said, this was his best season as a pro, and considering he did that in the latter half of his career makes him well worth a spot on this list.

Some of the noteworthy achievements this season included his 1.5 interception percentage (the second-lowest of his career) and his 103.3 QB rating. While 2018 had slightly better numbers, that was more due to the increase in passing attempts. 2014 is clearly Roethlisberger’s best season to date, and he did it at an age where QBs can start to see a decline. Considering the state of the team this year, Roethlisberger could shock the world and put up better numbers this year. If he does, expect to see him jump up this list as a result.
