Paxton Lynch beats out Devlin Hodges for QB3

This prediction isn’t nearly as bold as some of the others, and many writers have predicted this coming to fruition this year. However, there are plenty of reasons to believe that Paxton Lynch should win the QB3 job over Devlin Hodges in 2020.

For starters, Hodges doesn’t offer much in terms of overall arm talent and athletic traits. Lynch does. Though there’s a reason why Lynch is on his third team since entering the league as a first-round pick back in 2016, he certainly has more arm talent than Hodges.

Though he’s unlikely to see the field for Pittsburgh this year, he should be a better candidate as a scout-team quarterback, as his skill set is more apt to what Pittsburgh will face on game day. Lynch can help get Pittsburgh’s defense ready with his size in the pocket and above-average throwing arm.

On the other hand, the Steelers won’t face a quarterback all year with as little passing talent and throwing velocity as Devlin Hodges. ‘Duck’ was a great camp story, but it’s time for the Steelers to upgrade their scout team quarterback.
