There are really only three inside linebackers who are locks of making the Steelers roster in 2020. Obviously, Devin Bush is going to be a cornerstone player for the Steelers, and his health is critical to Pittsburgh’s defensive success. likewise, Vince Williams may be an aging linebacker, but he still offers a veteran presence who excels at stuffing the run and blitzing up the middle.

Unfortunately, Williams is far from a full-time player due to his lack of range and speed in coverage. For this reason, I see no reason that Ulysees Gilbert shouldn’t be considered a roster lock for the Steelers this year.

Despite losing both Mark Barron and Tyler Matakevich this offseason Pittsburgh made no effort to replace those players on the roster. This gives us plenty of reason to believe that they are comfortable with Gilbert as the team’s dime backer in 2020. Robert Spillane is another player who has a chance at cracking the roster if the Steelers choose to keep four inside linebackers.
