Cornerbacks
Joe Haden
Steven Nelson
Mike Hilton
Justin Layne
Cameron Sutton
Outside of these five players, it’s really difficult to predict which other cornerbacks (if any) will end up making the 53-man roster for the Steelers this year. Joe Haden and Steven Nelson are quality outside starting cornerbacks, while Mike Hilton has been operating the slot going on four years now in Pittsburgh.
The Steelers also invested a pair of third-round draft choices in Justin Layne (2019) and Cameron Sutton (2017). Sutton has more game experience and has proven to be a solid player in nickel and dime formations, while Layne possesses a lot of tools but is still very inexperienced. Neither player is in jeopardy of losing their job.
It’s possible that Pittsburgh could elect to hold an extra cornerback, but given that Alexander Myers is arguably the best candidate, they could just run with five corners in 2020. Fortunately, this is the deepest group of cornerbacks the Steelers have had in years.
