Zack Banner

I think we haven’t seen the best we are going to see from Zach Banner. He is the type of player the Steelers should try to extend with him being relatively cheap at this point in his career. He hasn’t won the right tackle job, but I think he should do it. He is still only 27 and that gives him three or four more productive years.

Banner has been a project for a lot of his NFL career and has failed at certain stops. Banner believes that he would have been better off being drafted by the Steelers in the first place. I think the Steelers taking a chance on him has been a success.

He is playing on a one-year restricted contract; so, he may play himself into a contract with another team in 2020. I do believe the Steelers will have priority in signing him because of the success he has had in Pittsburgh.

Stefen Wisniewski

Wisniewski is a bit of a journeyman but he was a good bargain in free agency this year. He will only cost them a little more than a million dollars a year but could provide some good insurance for this team.

I think Wisniewski is capable of being a solid starter for the Steelers. He may be the left guard in 2020 if Banner is not able to win the job. He also will be the next man up at center and both guard positions if there is an injury.

Wisniewski is no spring chicken, but he might have a good chance of being a starter in 2021. He will still be under contract and will be cheap for this team.

There is the chance that Feiler gets a better deal in another city and there is also the chance that he is more needed at right tackle. There is also the chance that the Steelers need to save the eight million in base salary due to Maurkice Pouncey in 2021 according to Over the Cap. Therefore, I don’t think Wisniewski will have a hard time finding playing time in his two years with the Steelers.
