Jerome Bettis

Bettis was always a fan favorite during his time with the Steelers because he displayed what the definition of Steelers football was. His nickname was the Bus because of the way he would run over the opposing defensive players and continue chugging along up the field. Bettis quickly ran his way into the hearts of Steelers Nation and so many across the city wanted to see him win a Super Bowl. The Steelers were still looking for “one for the thumb” since the 70’s dynasty so long ago.
Bettis and the Steelers had some promising teams but failed to do so years prior. Finally right Bettis got his ring and the Steelers got one for the thumb as Bettis played his last game in the Super Bowl at his home town in Detroit.

Bettis was one of the best running backs of all time and not just one of the best for the Pittsburgh Steelers. This Hall of Famer was able to rival Franco Harris for best in franchise history as he is only second in rushing yards in the history of the Steelers.

Bettis has many achievements and accolades that include 10,571 rushing yards, 78 rushing touchdowns, nomination to the Pro Bowl six times, two-time selection to First-team All-pro, Walter Payton Man of the Year, NFL Comeback Player of the Year, and NFL offensive rookie of the year.
