Jadeveon Clowney is an upgrade over Bud Dupree

Whether or not you try to convince yourself otherwise, Jadeveon Clowney is a more superior football player (there’s a reason he was the first overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft).

Though Clowney hasn’t produced the raw stats that match his freakish size, length, and athleticism, he is a force to be reckoned with. Clowney is double-teamed at a significantly higher rate than Dupree, and when you put on the film, it’s not hard to see why.

With elite length and bend to go with an array of pass rush moves, Clowney imposes his will against offensive tackles and draws a lot of attention as a result.

While Dupree is coming off one good season, there’s no guarantee he will be able to repeat his performance in 2020, and his poor efficiency numbers made Pro Football Focus call him one of the riskiest signings of the 2020 offseason.

On the other hand, if a three-time Pro Bowl talent like Jadeveon Clowney got the chance to work opposite T.J. Watt, somebody on that defensive front is going to get pressure on the quarterback on every play.
