5 greatest Pittsburgh Steelers wide receivers of all time
Louis Lipps
This is one of the most forgotten talents in Steeler’s history as Lipps was able to put up great numbers and a nice career with the Steelers. He played during one of the dullest times to be a Steelers fan so that is perhaps why he is forgotten about. Lipps played for the Steelers during the mid-80s to the early 90s and those were some fairly dark times for the Steelers. The team lost a lot and the quarterback play was less than sub-par. Lipps was able to make a nice stat sheet and career without ever really playing with an NFL caliber passer. That adds to a more impressive ability for Lipps to go in-front of a Hall of Fame player like Swann.
Lipps would play eight seasons with Pittsburgh before ending his career with a short stint in New Orleans that didn’t see him last very long. He played the same amount of seasons as Swann did but he added more stats then Swann did and sits fifth all-time on the Steelers receiving yards list in the history of the franchise.
Lipps had a nice list of accomplishments during his eight-year career that includes 6,018 receiving yards, 39 receiving touchdowns, two Pro Bowls, NFL offensive player of the year, Steelers team MVP, and two-time All-pro.
