JuJu Smith-Schuster

Going into 2019, I had been very excited to see Ju Ju and I was one of many who selected him with one of their top two picks in fantasy football due to such a high fantasy outlook for 2019. The target share should stay steady enough and if any teams are going to try to get away with leaving him in single coverage, with anyone, he will make a play.

JuJu had the 46th (Devlin Hodges) and the 48th( Mason Rudolph) ranked quarterbacks, that started at least one game, in the NFL QB Index throwing to him last season. When he was healthy he still managed to make some big plays. With the amount of talent around him and Ben Roethlisberger back, defenses are going to have to try their luck leaving him one on one a bit more this season. This is enough to give him the best fantasy outlook for this season.

I’d expect Ju Ju to end up producing borderline top 10 fantasy numbers this season. The only thing keeping me from going higher with Ju Ju is his target share in the red zone. Pittsburgh added former pro-bowl tight end in Eric Ebron, drafted very large and athletic Chase Claypool with their top pick in 2020, and drafted a speedy running back, Anthony Macfarland Jr with their 4th rd pick. It would make sense to see Ju Ju’s red-zone targets dip this season. However, if he stays healthy he will be the clear cut fantasy WR1 out of Pittsburgh this year.
