The Pittsburgh Steelers had some positions they failed to address this offseason. Here are their biggest areas of weakness heading into the 2020 season.

By most accounts, the Pittsburgh Steelers stand to be an improved football team in 2020. With the exception of Javon Hargrave, they were able to retain most of their talent from a sesaon ago and they did a good job strengthening a few positions with limited money this offseason.

Clearly, the most promising improvement is the one that is sure to take place at quarterback. Though there were many analysts questioning a healthy return from Ben Roethlisberger this year, we really had very little idea how he would look until training camp.

After putting on the pads for the first time in nearly a year, his teammates are convinced that Big Ben is back. General manager, Kevin Colbert, recently stated that he believes we could see an improved Roethlisberger in 2020.

In addition, the Steelers bolstered the tight end position by adding former Indianapolis Colts Pro Bowler Eric Ebron this season. They also beefed up the trenches on both sides of the ball after losing Hargrave and offensive guard, Ramon Foster. In their stead, Pittsburgh traded for defensive lineman, Chris Wormly, and signed offensive guard Stefen Wisniewski in free agency.

Unfortunately, there are still some positions the Steelers more or less elected to ignore this offseason. Despite struggles from these groups in 2019, Mike Tomlin and Pittsburgh’s front office focused their attention elsewhere.
