Steelers 2020 final 53-man roster predictions
Defense (25)
Defensive Line (6): Cam Heyward, Stephon Tuitt, Tyson Alualu, Chris Wormley, Dan McCullers, and Isaiah Buggs.
Another position that could add one to the roster and make it seven but six seems like a reasonable spot. The only two in question would be McCullers and Buggs but with their experience, it seems likely that this group will be the ones on the team.
Outside Linebacker (5): TJ Watt, Bud Dupree, Alex Highsmith, Ola Adeniyi, and Tuzar Skipper.
This position is locked with their top four outside backers but Skipper could still be an odd-man-out. If other positions are in more desperate need of keeping then Skipper could be cut and reverted to the practice squad.
Middle Linebacker (5): Devin Bush, Vince Williams, Ulysees Gilbert III, Robert Spillane, and Marcus Allen.
Allen is the only surprise addition to this position but that’s because he just changed from safety to middle linebacker hybrid. Allen has a lot to learn still for the position but he provides special team ability and will be able to sneak onto the roster and maybe develop into an interesting role-player on the defense.
Cornerback (5): Joe Haden, Steven Nelson, Cam Sutton, Mike Hilton, and Justin Layne.
No real surprise here as this is one of the most talented cornerback groups that the team has had in many years. Layne has not been able to see the field and hopefully, that will be the case again because of the play above him on the roster, he does provide some special team ability.
Safety (4): Minkah Fitzpatrick, Terrell Edmunds, Jordan Dangerfield, and Curtis Riley.
Marcus Allen could be listed here but he is switching to more of an inside linebacker role. Dangerfield is a special teams demon and was one some speculated could lose his job to Allen, that has changed since there have been position changes.
