RB (5):

James Conner

Benny Snell

Anthony McFarland

Jaylen Samuels

Derek Watt

Again, most of this group has already been decided. Conner is primed to bounce back in 2020 assuming he can avoid the injury bug. 2019 went off the rails quickly once he was banged up, and he was never given proper time to fully heal. He is primed to be a solid contributor again though, even if 2020 is his likely last season with the Steelers.

Snell is building some hype during this offseason, as he has trimmed down and reportedly looked like a complete back during camp. He’ll see some carries every game and could ascend into a starting role if Conner continues to struggle with injuries. McFarland is a speedy change of pace option for the Steeles. While touches will be tough to come by, McFarland has the speed to make the most of them. Expect some big plays from the fourth-rounder during the season.

At FB, Watt is the obvious lock. He has no competition on the roster, was signed to a sizable deal in the offseason, and will likely be one of the best special teams’ defenders on the roster. The last RB spot is wide open, and while I like Wendall Smallwood and equally dislike Samuels, Smallwood didn’t have the camp I hoped he would. It looks like the Steelers will once again roster Samuels for the season, something most fans shouldn’t look forward to.
