Steelers fantasy football: Players to start and sit in week 1
By Andrew Falce
Giants Defense
Verdict: Sit ‘Em
There is a lot to like from the Giants defense this season. A talented defensive line mixed in with a potential driven linebacking group could give the Steelers some fits. The biggest issue for the Giants is their secondary though. They just waived former first-rounder DeAndre Baker, leaving their starting CBs as Corey Ballentine and James Bradberry. While not a horrible tandem, it’s one that the Steelers could exploit.
As well, the safety tandem of Jabrill Peppers and Julian Love can be exploited deep. The Steelers will want to establish the run given the nature of their offense, but the passing game could be a real threat in week one. Expect a lot of passing yards which would then open up the run. I expect a big offensive barrage from the Steelers which will likely lead to a low point output from the Giants’ defense.
The only hope for the Giants defense is getting some turnovers. Considering the Steelers offense tends to start slow; the Giants could exploit a few turnovers in order to add to their fantasy point total. That said, it likely won’t be enough to make them a start-able defense in week one. Look to a different defense to start in fantasy for week one.
