Verdict: Start ‘Em

I went back and forth with Eric Ebron as a fantasy candidate for week one. While I don’t like his statistical upside in 2020, he could be primed for a good output against the Giants. Ebron was brought in for his ability to catch and score, and given the weaknesses of the Giants defense, the Steelers could exploit this matchup early in the season.

Now, Ebron isn’t likely to go off for 80-100 yards receiving. Considering he is new to the offense and didn’t have a preseason to get completely acclimated, he may only have a few targets in week one. That limits his fantasy upside, but if the Steelers can move the ball effectively, those targets could be in the red zone. If that’s the case, Ebron can do what he does best, that being score.

Don’t expect a huge output from Ebron in week one, but if he can find his way into the end zone once or twice, he would be well worth a start. As the season progresses and Chase Claypool sees the field more, Ebron’s scoring opportunities may decrease. For week one though, he should be primed to score and as a result have a fantasy score worth starting.
