Sterling Shepard/Golden Tate

Verdict: Sit’Em

While I like the Giants group of receivers, the only one worth starting is Slayton. While both Golden Tate and Sterling Shepard are talented targets, both seem to be trending down this week against the Steelers. Both are more possession-based, meaning they rely on short targets and thrive more against zone coverage as their route running allows them to create openings when in zone.

This should allow the Steelers man coverage cornerbacks to match up well against the Giants’ other two starting receivers. Haden and Steven Nelson should be able to handle either Tate or Shepard near the line of scrimmage. The best chance for either of them to succeed is by lining up in the slot, bet even then, Mike Hilton will be ready to take them on.

While either of these options could be decent fantasy options later in the season, their week one outlook isn’t great. Expect them to split targets and struggle against the Steelers secondary. The only Giants receiver that makes sense to start is Slayton, and that is only because of his boom potential. Sit the other two until they face a weaker secondary.
