The first away game of the new year
There will not be many teams in the NFL that are allowing fans to attend games until COVID-inspired restrictions are removed from their cities. The Pittsburgh Steelers will be traveling to Metlife Stadium to play the Giants and the stands will be empty.
The league did approve the use of 70 decibels worth of noise that the league itself is providing for each team in the NFL. The sounds were generated by the NFL and league-hired officials will be at each game to play these sounds. There will also be a league official on the sidelines of these games to monitor and report the decibel levels to the league office.
Home field advantage isn’t going to mean as much as it has in the past but the Pittsburgh Steelers are going to have be ready and not shocked to walk out and play an NFL game against a completely empty crowd. This is going to be an unfamiliar experience for a lot of players across the league.
