The Pittsburgh Steelers are traveling to Metlife Stadium to take on the New York Giants. They are looking to kick off the season in a strong fashion against a team that went 4-12 in 2019.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are considered strong favorites against the Giants and for good reason. Considering the fact that the Steelers dressed 9 players from a practice squad as late as the beginning of 2019 on offense they still held an 8-8 record. The giants showed that they were still in a rebuild and they only managed to finish 4-12 in 2019.
There are some things the Steelers should be knowledgeable about going into the game. For instance, the Giants are suiting up possibly the best RB in the league in Saquon Barkley. They also had an influx of talent on defense this season after signing James Bradberry and Blake Martinez.
Bradberry is a top tier corner and he showed this playing against the likes of Mike Evans, Michael Thomas, and Julio Jones twice a year throughout the 2019 season. Blake Martinez is a very sure tackler and has posted over 140 tackles in each of his last 3 seasons in Green Bay per ProFootballReference.
They also managed to retain former pro bowl defensive lineman Leonard Williams via the franchise tag. The Giants acquired him initially in a trade-in 2019 from the Jets. The key for Williams is his versatility. He can start anywhere on their defensive line and make an impact. That being said, in 6 seasons he has never managed more than 7 sacks. He has also only reached a total of over 50 tackles in a season three times in his career per ProFootballReference. The Giants are hoping he can finally live up to his 6th overall pick draft status from 2015 in his first full season in blue.
