Pittsburgh Steelers stat predictions for the 2020 NFL season
By Tommy Jaggi
Diontae Johnson
74 catches, 109 targets, 916 receiving yards, 6 TD, 12.3 yards per catch, 67.9 percent catch rate
Diontae Johnson has all the makings of a high-end WR2 in the NFL, but he hasn’t quite put it all together yet. The young receiver still has things he needs to work on, including refining his routes and his ability to come down with contested balls. Still, there is plenty of reason to trust that he will have a solid year.
Johnson may not be a 1,000-yard receiver by year two, but I envision him coming close. Much of this will depend on his chemistry with Ben Roethlisberger and how Big Ben will look to distribute targets in 2020.
Eventually, I do not doubt that Johnson will have some pretty impressive years in the league, but we are going to level expectations a bit for now. Johnson should look even better with a competent passer getting him the ball this year, but he won’t be one of the NFL’s top receivers from a production standpoint.
