Vince Williams: stock – up

Vince Williams proves time and time again to never count him out as a key player of this defense. He had a big night with four tackles and three tackles for a loss. He added a sack on a blitz, which he has proven he is one of the best at doing as a linebacker in his career.

Williams is always a very underrated part of the Steelers defense and his contributions often go unnoticed. His ability to impact games and still stay under the radar is something to behold.

Williams provides the thunder next to Devin Bush’s lightning forming a very good linebacker duo. The Steelers are getting a lot of what they envisioned pairing the two together last season after trading up to get Bush in the 2019 draft.

Bud Dupree: stock – up

It is hard to mention one without the other when it comes to the Steelers edge duo, but Dupree did well all game to set the edge and wreak havoc in the backfield. Watt had a great game also but Dupree has to show he can repeat his 2019 season to earn that elusive second contract and the big money he is looking for.

He finished the night with three tackles and two coming for a loss. His pass-rush ability was on display as well as he directly caused the throw that Cameron Heyward intercepted to end the Giants’ threat when the game was still well in reach for them.

The Steelers did well to keep the tandem intact for the 2020 season by tagging him and it looked to pay off in game one. If Bud can keep this type of play up all season, the Steelers should have no problem continuing to be a top tier pass rush led by Watt and Dupree in 2020.
