Benny Snell Stepped up to the plate

James Conner got hurt in the first quarter, but the outcome was not devasting because Benny Snell stepped up and filled in for Conner.

James Conner was the starter in the game but looked a little beat up tonight. It didn’t help that he injured his ankle in the first half of the game.

Benny Snell looked real good running the ball. Good enough that if the Steelers have to roll with Snell as the feature back for a few games then it will be alright. He was hitting holes and which helped his team add some misdirection.

Snell’s best contribution was the way he ran the ball in the fourth quarter. He was making runs and getting first downs when the Steelers needed to wind down the clock. He was a bit like a baseball closer tonight.

What is tough about running the clock out is that the defense knows that the offense wants to run the ball but the offense being able to do it effectively is a huge benefit to the team.
