With week one in the books, fantasy football owners need to be made aware of these five players who are trending up and deserve to be claimed off waivers

With the first week of NFL football wrapping up, many fantasy participants are scrambling to find worthy waiver wire pickups for the next week. Given the myriad of exciting performances, there are plenty of tantalizing options to add to fantasy football teams. Given the importance of finding new talent and adding players after injury, the waiver system in fantasy is critical to winning your league.

Now, creating a list like this has to follow certain guidelines. First off, the potential of the player is taken into account. Next, the position value comes into play. This will be determined by the player being owned in less than 30 percent of ESPN fantasy leagues. For leagues that are 14 plus teams, some of these options may not be available.

Week one gave so many fantasy owners hope. Those second-year players look like they are ready to make the leap to elite while rookies saw more playing time than fans had initially thought. That said, plenty of players were disappointed, leading to fantasy football owners questioning their decisions to draft them. It always makes sense to add talent when you can as a fantasy owner, so keeping your eyes out for waiver wire targets is a must.

All of that said, here are the five hottest fantast football pickups after week one.
