Adrian Peterson

Seemingly ageless, Adrian Peterson has once again vaulted into fantasy relevance. Peterson was set to play for the Football Team before being surprisingly cut, and he quickly landed with the Lions. While it appeared like an odd fit, the Lions seemed to favor him, giving him double the number of carries than the next most carries from the trio. On top of this, he caught three passes, adding to his overall solid day.

Given the scarcity of fantasy football RBs, finding a possible starter like Peterson could save a lot of teams. While he looked great during his first week, his long-term upside isn’t great. Kerryon Johnson is still contending for carries and the Lions have a second-round pick invested in D’Andre Swift. Both won’t disappear from the offense which makes Peterson less desirable as a starter.

At the very least, Peterson has once again proven that he can be fantasy relevant in 2020. For fantasy football owners, adding him to the bench can provide a safe short-term option in case of injuries or bye weeks. While his weekly stats will likely fluctuate given the stable of backs for the Lions, he should be a safe bet to roster and start if the opportunity presents itself.
