Gardner Minshew

One of the best storylines from the 2019 season was the rise to prominence of QB Gardner Minshew. The former sixth-round pick had a long road to start but played well enough for the Jaguars to allow him to start in 2020. It appeared as if the Jaguars were set to tank for a top QB in the 2021 draft though, as the team had a fire sale of talent during the offseason.

Given the Colts’ strong defense and a new offense, it appeared as though Minshew would begin the season on a rough note. Instead, he actually surprised, scoring three times and having an above-average fantasy game. The best part was, Minshew was efficient, only throwing one incompletion during the game and no picks. He did what he thrives in: playing clean, low stakes, mistake-free football.

As for the rest of his fantasy outlook, Minshew will need to up his passing numbers slightly to be completely fantasy relevant. What is important to note is his accuracy, as that will hopefully persist weekly. If Minshew can continue his style of play, he will be a high floor low ceiling option weekly. Start him in favorable matchups and keep him on your bench for bye weeks.
