Russell Gage
While the Falcons may have lost their week one matchup, they did give way to a multitude of high scoring fantasy players. Their top three receivers each had nine catches and over 110 yards. While numbers like those can be expected for their two starters regularly, the third option, Russell Gage, could still be a viable fantasy option.
Now, Gage isn’t a tremendous talent, but he does well in the slot. Similar to former Falcon Mohamed Sanu, Matt Ryan should be able to get the most out of him. Thus, his fantasy football outlook is positive, as the pass-happy Falcons should give Gage regular targets weekly. If he can continue to see easy coverages due to the rest of the talent in the Falcons offense, Gage could easily be a top 30 fantasy WR by seasons end.
To be clear, Gage is the third option in this passing offense, but considering Ryan has kept a plethora of targets fed during his career, this could still be a player worth starting. Last year, the third option was TE Austin Hooper, who had one of the best fantasy football seasons out of the TE group. Don’t expect Gage to win on his own, but considering the offense he is in, he should be relevant for the rest of this season.
