Verdict: Sit ’em

Melvin Gordon received the lions share of the carries for the Broncos in week one, and considering Phillip Lindsay suffered an injury, he could see even more work against the Steelers. The only issue? The Steelers defense just stopped the far superior Saquon Barkley to six total rushing yards.

The shutdown of Barkley was so impressive that starting any RB against the Steelers is a fool’s errand right now. While Gordan is a good player, he is entering a similar situation as Barkley was. His offensive line is suspect, meaning the Steelers may be able to tear through it similar to how they did against the Giants. While Gordan may muster more rushing yards, expect him to struggle against this talented defense.

His only saving grace will be catching passes, but if Lindsay can suit up, he will likely receive most of the targets. Even if he doesn’t play, starting Gordan is risky against the Steelers. While he has obvious talent, the Steelers’ defense looked unstoppable. Eventually, they will give up a big rushing performance, but it doesn’t seem like week two will be that week.
