Steelers fantasy football: Players to start or sit in week 2
By Andrew Falce
James Washington
Verdict: Start ’em
James Washington actually made my sit ‘em list for week one, but his impressive play warrants a chance in week two. While he only caught two passes, he played extremely physically, especially when he forced his way into the end zone on his second catch. He should continue to see work in his role as a deep threat, and as Roethlisberger gets more comfortable, he should be willing to throw it deep more often.
The biggest issue I have with Washington is that the Steelers really tried to get Chase Claypool involved in the offense early. This will dig into his opportunities and could limit his fantasy potential weekly. All of that considered, he should still be the primary deep threat, and considering his physicality, may earn more of Roethlisberger’s trust going forward
While his scoring opportunities may not be often, he should still make a big play when he does make the catch. As his rapport grows with Roethlisberger, expect to see him establish a consistent role in 2020. His overall upside is limited, but as the third option in this offense, he should exceed expectations.
