Verdict: Sit ’em

On the flip side, I had Eric Ebron as a start ‘em candidate last week, and I am now flipping that designation. While his one catch was impressive, he failed to connect with Roethlisberger often enough to warrant him starting in fantasy. While Ebron wasn’t necessarily brought in to put in elite TE receiving numbers, he was brought in to score, something he didn’t do in week one.

While the TDs will eventually come, his potential as a starting TE is simply mediocre. Perhaps the hype got in the way last week, but the Steelers saw what they can expect from him. The occasional sharp route and catch but overall lackluster games. Once he scores, fans will rejoice, but even then, he will need more than one reception and a score to be worthy of starting in fantasy.

While better performances are ahead for Ebron, he needs to score to be fantasy relevant. Even then, the rest of his game is based around being a red zone threat. This isn’t to say he won’t improve (ideally, he should). It’s just that his fantasy production will be based around him scoring. To be frank, there are too many better and safer options to roll within any given week.
