The Steelers began the 2020 season with an impressive win against the Giants
So you could argue that any win is impressive; however, the reason I say that the win on Monday Night Football against the Giants on the road was an impressive win is this: playing on the road is tough enough, but when you factor in playing on Monday night on the road, the task becomes exponentially more difficult.
While the Steelers did not ‘run away’ with the victory, we did show our resolve to make adjustments on both sides of the play, to make big plays when necessary, to play complementary football, something that was sorely lacking last season, to overcome adversity and to play as a team.
I know all of the above sounds like rhetoric, but it’s not; it happens to be what carried the Steelers to a victory against the Giants. We all know that an NFL season is rarely defined by one game, but how nice is to go into our home opener having won on the road in the first game of the season?
Personally, I think it’s pretty nice and very necessary. Now, that obviously does not mean that the Steelers will perform in the exact manner against our next opponent, but it does mean that we are capable of doing so.
If we do perform similarly against our next opponent and every other opponent after that, I think the Steelers will be playing meaningful football in January.
