Steelers secondary vs Drew Lock
Similar to last week against Daniel Jones, the Steelers face another young passer in Drew Lock. He is in his first full season as the absolute starter in Denver and, as I stated last week, Pittsburgh loves facing young and inexperienced quarterbacks.
Lock looked good in the first half of the game against Tennessee but did not do much in the second half. The Titans never sacked him but that should not be the case against Pittsburgh.
The Steelers pass rush must rattle Lock early on and allow the secondary to settle in and do their jobs. The Broncos have a good receiving corps but could be without Courtland Sutton again who is questionable for the game.
The secondary had its ups and downs against the Giants, the worst being the big passing touchdown to Darius Slayton on a rare miscue by Minkah Fitzpatrick and Joe Haden allowing Steven Nelson to be burned over the top with no help.
The team’s secondary was great last season so I don’t expect the same mistakes in week two. Pittsburgh’s defense is one of the best in the league and can make the day a very stressful one for Drew Lock.
The Steelers have a chance to start 2-0 for the first time since 2017. They have a tough two-game stretch against Houston and Tennessee in weeks three and four so the 2-0 start will do wonders for them in the early going.
