Any more Benny Snell football?

Week one didn’t go as expected for James Conner, as an early ankle injury gave way to a dominant Benny Snell performance. More than likely, Snell will take over as the lead back for the Steelers, something that fans should be excited for. That said, the Broncos did a great job at shutting down one of the league’s best runners last week in Derrick Henry. While he did rush for over 100 yards, he only averaged a mere 3.7 yards per carrying.

Snell has a similar physical style to his running like Henry, but he is far less talented as a runner. If the Broncos defense was that effective in shutting down Henry, they should be able to give Snell fits. On top of this, the Steelers’ offensive line is very banged up, which could further the woes of the Steelers’ rushing attacks.

The Steelers will likely have to get creative with their rushing attack, utilizing multiple backs and looks in order to create the most opportunity for their RBs. Keep Snell as the primary rusher yes, but make sure Conner still sees a plethora of snaps, especially during third down. As well, this could be the week to try and get the speedy Anthony McFarland involved. While the Steelers rushing attack can succeed against the Broncos, it will take a little bit of creativity by the offense.
